MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN

Sunkar Resources plc’s Chilisai Phosphate FertilizerProject (AIM:SKR) was introduced to the President of the  Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, during his working visit to the Aktobe region on September 13, 2010.

Sunkar has attracted a great deal of regional interest in its project due to its significant potential to drive regional growth, both through its own development and through stimulation of the local agricultural industry through the supply of high quality fertilizers from the region. 

Recently the Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Eurasian Development Bank,an international financial institution established by Russia and Kazakhstan to develop market economies in its member countries. The Memorandum of Understanding envisages EDB providing up to $200 million in debt financing to the Project for a term of up to 12 years.


The Company’s Chief Financial Officer, Donald Sinclair, presented Sunkar’s Project to the President, commenting: “We were very pleased to introduce our Chilisai Phosphate Fertilizer Project to the President. He has encouraged us to further develop the Project. Over time we believe to meet further Government support for our Project as one of the major economic drivers for the Aktobe region”.
